ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council has stated that former Supreme Court judge Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi knowingly deprived underage children of property in the Chaudhry Shehbaz case.
According to the Supreme Judicial Council’s opinion, a total of five allegations of misconduct were proved against Mazhar Naqvi as he could not be said to be free from greed.
The Supreme Judicial Council stated that during his tenure, Mazhar Naqvi was also accessible to the public and his conduct was inappropriate in both official and personal matters during his tenure, which is a violation of judicial conduct code.
It noted that Mazhar Naqvi’s actions were inclined towards personal interest, and in the Chaudhry Shehbaz case, he knowingly deprived underage children of valuable property for personal gain.
The SJC said that Mazhar Naqvi received valuable gifts during his tenure, the details of which were not explained, including Rs5 million, and two commercial and residential plots were bought by his sons at nominal prices.
The Council opined that multiple violations of the code of conduct by Mazahar Naqvi have damaged the judiciary’s reputation. It said that he committed serious misconduct, and due to this misconduct, the term ‘judge’ should not be used with Mazhar Naqvi.
Thr Supreme Judicial Council had recommended the termination of Mazahar Naqvi from his service.
Mazahar Naqvi had resigned during the proceedings of the Supreme Judicial Council against him.
