KARACAHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has dissolved its coordination committee and established an ad hoc committee to oversee the party’s reorganization.
The decision was announced by a party spokesperson following a meeting chaired by the party leader, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, where the proposal for reorganization was put forward.
The newly formed ad hoc committee includes prominent figures such as Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Mustafa Kamal and Farooq Sattar, with Anis Qaimkhani and Nasreen Jalil also joining the ranks.
The development comes in the wake of an audio leak that prompted the dissolution of the coordination committee.
The leaked audio, which became a topic of discussion on social media, featured Mustafa Kamal expressing his dismay over the negotiations with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), likening their reception (of MQM delegation) to that of uninvited guests.
Kamal further revealed that the PML-N did not take MQM-Pakistan into confidence during talks with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and conversely, the PML-N conveyed to them that the PPP considers MQM-Pakistan’s mandate to be entirely fake and there was no need for dialogue.
Mustafa Kamal later confirmed that the leaked audio circulating on social media was indeed authentic and it was his voice.
About the leaked video, Mustafa Kamal had said that an ‘insider’ from the MQM-London faction had been recording their meetings against the party’s interests.
He had said that it came to light after a forensic analysis of the audio clip that was leaked and circulated by MQM-London.
Kamal disclosed that suspicions about the presence of MQM-London agents within the coordination committee had been confirmed following the audio leak.
He had said that MQM-London was unaware that the leaked audio would expose their agent within the party.
