ISLAMABAD: The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has announced countrywide protest demonstrations against the police raid on the residence of the party Chief and the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) candidate for the seat of the president Mahmood Khan Achakzai today at 3:00 in the afternoon.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s Central Secretariat in Quetta, PkMAP Central Secretary General Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal said that a heavy police contingent raided the house of the party chief “without any magistrate” in violation of the people’s right to privacy, according to a BBC report.

He added that the police also arrested a personal guard of Achakzai, who was in possession of a licensed weapon. The PKMAP leader alleged that the raid came after Achakzai exposed rigging in the recent elections and the people responsible for it in a National Assembly, session on Saturday.

Condemning the raid, Ziaratwal announced PkMAP protest against the incident on Monday (today). He added that the PkMAP and its leadership could be intimidated by such actions.

Meanwhile, refuting the claims of the “raid”, the district administration said it got a vacant government land vacated on Quetta’s Quarry road near Achakzai’s house.

Quetta Deputy Commissioner Saad bin Asad said Achakzai had illegally occupied the government land by putting up walls. The Quetta DC confirmed that a person was arrested for pointing weapons at an assistant commissioner and interfering in a public affair.

He said the arrested person laced with illegal weapons was guarding the land.
