Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called upon multilateral development institutions to consider aggressive financing for nuclear energy projects.
In a video message on the sidelines of the Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels, the foreign minister said this will help developing countries install nuclear energy plants and expand the use of green energy. He also said that other heads of delegations at the summit have asked international financial institutions to consider the same.
The foreign minister said nuclear energy is regarded as the safest source of energy after hydropower.
Elaborating further, Dar said Pakistan’s installed nuclear energy capacity is more than 3,500 megawatts and added that the country is also building another nuclear power plant, Chashma-5, with the cooperation of China.
