Michael Clarke questions Imad Wasim’s absence from Pakistan team

Former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke has expressed his concerns over the absence of former Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim from the national team.

Clarke, who was part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) commentary panel, commended Imad for his outstanding performances.

Clarke praised Imad as the finals’ Most Valuable Player (MVP) and questioned his absence from Pakistan’s T20 squad.

“Imad is my MVP for the finals. If he is not playing for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, there is something seriously wrong,” he said.

During PSL season nine’s knockout stage, Imad Wasim shone as a star performer for Islamabad United, earning back-to-back Player of the Match awards. However, it’s noteworthy that on 24th November 2023, the veteran all-rounder officially announced his retirement from international cricket.

Despite stepping away from international cricket, the 35-year-old expressed his willingness to return to the national team if called upon by selectors.

In an interview with local media, he reaffirmed his commitment to serving Pakistan.

“I made a name for myself while playing for Pakistan and if my country needs me, I will be available. If not, I have no issues with that,” Imad said.

“Shaheen called me after I retired but I told him that we will talk after PSL,” he added.
